Mariah isn't #1

Ok...before I go any further. Some people may think I am a die-hard Mariah Carey fan. Well, I am. I'm not afraid to admit it. She's been quite an influence on my love of music since 1990 when she first came out. Therefore, it comes as a shock to me and most music industry insiders to know Mariah Carey's latest album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel did not debut at #1 on Billboard's Top 200 Album Charts...

...and worse, she didn't even debut at #2...she came in at #3 selling 168,000, not as stellar as 2008's E=MC2 debut of 463,000 giving her a #1 album last year, which was her highest first-week totals ever.

So who came in at #1? Shockingly enough, Barbra Streisand with Love is the Answer, marking her ninth #1 album and extending Streisand's lead as the top female act with the most #1s on Billboard's Album Charts. Coming in at #3 is Paramore's third album, Brand New Eyes.

In other chart news, Mariah almost had an even worse week. The Black Eyes Peas' "I Gotta Feeling" tied Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together" last week as having the most consecutive weeks at #1 this decade with 14. This week, Jay Sean's "Down" finally dethroned the Peas to maintain the tie, and to also end the record-breaking 26 consecutive weeks at #1 for Peas with both "Boom Boom Pow" and their second single.
