Mariah Carey's New Album Released Today

After much anticipation and numerous delays, Mariah Carey's Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel is finally available today. It is Carey's 12th album in her massive, two-decade career. Despite the hype, the disc's first single, "Obsessed", hasn't fared too well on the charts...only peaking at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts. The second single, a remake of Foreigner's #1 hit, "I Want to Know What Love Is", is hoping for a better turn out. However, there's no doubt the disc will debut at #1. Carey will be performing on The Today Show this Friday, Oct. 2.

Britney Spears' New Single and Greatest Hits Album

Britney's Back...not that she's left. However, our favorite womanizer is releasing a greatest hits on Nov. 24th. Jive Records will release The Singles Collection to celebrate Spears' 10th year anniversary onto the music scene (yes, its been 10 years since "...Baby One More Time" came out!). The disc will contain 29 of her singles, including a new single titled "3". Is it me, but didn't Britney release a greatest hits just a few short years ago (yes, 2004 with My Prerogative)?

Here's a listen to her new single, "3":

Apple Store Performances

"Boom Boom Pow"

"I Got A Feeling"

Classic...not sure which Apple store this is located at...this kid is lip synching to Black Eyed Peas songs. It's hilarious to see the reactions of customers as he performs inside the store.

Baby Dances to Single Ladies

I thought this was too cute. It shows the power of music - and dancing! He's got some moves...maybe Kanye was right...OH!

Lady Gaga: Rising Star Award

After claiming MTV's Best New Artist award earlier this month, Lady Gaga will be awarded by Billboard Magazine with its "Rising Star" at the 2009 Women in Music event in New York on Oct. 2. The award recognizes an artist which has proven to have vast success early on in their career - and Ms. Gaga can certainly claim that title. She's had a string of hits in the last year including two #1 hits, "Just Dance" and the monster-hit "Poker Face", along with "Lovegame" and her current hit, "Paparazzi."

Madonna's Celebration

Madonna never seems to disappoint. Her 2-CD greatest hits collection Celebration hit the #1 spot on the UK Album Charts. She ties with Elvis to have the second most #1 albums on the UK charts with 11, behind the #1 reigning champ, The Beatles, with 15. On this side of the Atlantic, her CD will be released tomorrow. Her dance-pop single, "Celebration", has already made its way to #1 on the dance-airplay charts. In 'celebration' of Madonna's amazing music career, it's hard to select a favorite. However, if I have to name two songs - "Borderline" and "Hung Up" are two that stand out for me.

So what's your favorite Madonna song/video? Let me know - and I can post some videos on here. :)

Here is a commercial teaser for Madonna's new CD:

Here is Madonna's "Celebration" video featuring her 22-year old new beau (he's the DJ whom she's kissing - duh!):

Cascada's Dancefloor Hit

It's Friday night! Anyone planning to evacuate a dancefloor tonight...not me. So hope you guys are doing so. Take a look at the German duo Cascada's enticing new dance-pop hit, "Evacuate the Dancefloor." It reminds me of Lady Gaga, but it's all good. I know it gets me up and going into a groove. At least Cascada is moving towards original songs. The single went to #1 on the UK charts this past summer.

Jay Sean's Down

British-Asian R&B star Jay Sean is making an impact on this side of the Atlantic with his hit single, "Down" feat. Lil Wayne. The single has reached the #2 spot on Billboard's Hot 100 Singles Chart. His U.S. debut album, All or Nothing, will be released in November. He was originally signed to Virgin Records in the UK. He is now with Cash Money Records.

This is his first American interview and performance with KTLA TV in Los Angeles:

ALMA Awards Performances

The 2009 ALMA Awards took place last week, but three performances are still keeping me abuzz. Shakira, Pittbull and David Archuleta (yes, American Idol runner-up). Shakira brought down the house with her smash hit, "She Wolf", and Pittbull got the crowd bouncing to his hits "I Know You Want Me" and "Hotel Room Service." Archuleta sang a mesmerizing Spanish ballad, "Contigo en la Distancia."

Carrie Underwood's New Single

Carrie Underwood is doing yet again - sounds like another surefire hit with her new single, "Cowboy Casanova" (in comparison to her "Before He Cheats" hit). Her third album, Play On , drops on November 3rd. No video yet, but you can have a listen here.

Janet Jackson's Tribute to MJ

This may be a bit past the timeframe, but just to add it to my new blog. Here is Janet's tribute to Michael Jackson at the 2009 Video Music Awards with a performance of their 1995 duet, "Scream". The awards were held in New York City on September 13th.

Mariah on Oprah Show

Check Mariah's performance out on her remake of Foreigner's 1985 #1 hit, "I want to know what love is," which Mariah performs with her wonderful background choir and a look all to welcoming. It reminds me of Mariah during her early years. She is looking very hot and classy. Love the hair. And she can still hit them high notes!
